In our daily life, ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) radiation is not only emitted from electricity mains and computer monitors. ELF radiation is also emitted from other natural sources such as sunlight, fire, and the Earth's magnetic field. Currently, the number of studies on the effects of ELF radiation is increasing. Studies have shown that this can lead to a variety of health problems. How safe is it to use mobile phones and computers? A study in France has said that not only microwave radiation but also mobile phones and computers are harmful to health for various reasons. According to experts, excessive use of mobile phones and computers is a threat to health.
Protection of hands and wrists: Some exercises should be done for hands and wrists. They are described below--
Hand Exercises: Just as athletes prepare themselves before playing, everyone should do some hand exercises before using the keyboard. There are different types of arm exercises. First massage the hands very lightly, pressing from the elbow to the wrist with the palm from top to bottom or from bottom to top. Experts suggest taking a break from exercising your hands at work.
Wrist Position: Keep wrist and hand straight while typing to avoid wrist or elbow pain. Place the keyboard on the desk and place it on a low table, not in the keyboard drawer. Otherwise, the nerves in the wrist will begin to rub against the cells, resulting in RST pain.
Safe and healthy work environment
Work Placement: Furniture and equipment must comply with health and safety laws relating to the use of computer equipment in the workplace. Employers must consider this when purchasing new equipment and creating an ICT environment.
Lighting: The workplace should be lit in such a way that the light reflected from the computer screen does not cause eye strain. Window curtains should be adjustable. The computer should be placed in such a way that it is not facing or behind a window.
Furniture: Height adjustable chairs should be provided and desks should be placed at proper height and distance from key board. The desk should be large enough to accommodate the computer and papers. Adjustable document holders should be provided so as not to have to move the head repeatedly.
Noise: Work spaces should be tight and noise-producing devices, such as dot-matrix printers, should be enclosed by acoustic covers or kept in separate rooms.
Hardware: The screen must not vibrate and must be sloped and hinged. Keyboard should be individual variable and task support.
Software: The employer should select the software as needed so that the employee can work easily. It must be easy to use.
Work environment: The work place should have ventilation and maintain a comfortable temperature and humidity.
Hardware: Healthy hardware should be used. For example, use of low-radiation monitors etc.
Software: Software should be provided in such a way that users can easily use it and feel comfortable.
Head: Keep the head straight while working on the computer. During this time, according to the distance of the hand from the screen, the head cannot be moved forward or backward.
Neck: Keep the neck down and sit straight.
Back: The back should be brought slightly forward from the hips. lower back
Throat: The throat should be kept relaxed and wide or cannot be given back.
Elbow: The elbow should be kept relaxed at the right angle.
Wrist : The wrist should be kept neutral and relaxed. It cannot be taken too high or too low.
Chair: The chair should be slightly tilted forward to keep the knees in a comfortable position.
Knees: Knees should be slightly lower than hips. Normally it should be slightly curved.Screen must be used. Adul Angul should be kept slightly curved naturally.
Light source: Light should come from the back of the head.
Screen: The screen should be placed at or slightly below eye level. Anti-glare cannot be taken.
Keyboard: The keyboard is best kept completely flat or at elbow level. Keys that require the whole hand to be pressed should be held with only the fingers or palm. You have to take a break every now and then.
Feet should be kept straight on the floor. Shorter people may need to take the footrest.
