System Development Method: The strategy adopted by a development group to create an organization's information system using various tools and techniques is called the information system development method. Currently, there are various development methods used to create information systems, such as waterfall model information, spiral model, prototype model, etc. Among them, the waterfall model is quite old; But nowadays it is used in many cases. Information system implementation in the waterfall model is a structured process. This process consists of several interrelated steps. The different stages of the waterfall model are also called system development cycles.
System Development Life Cycle (SDLC):
System development involves correcting the existing system by removing its defects, disadvantages, etc., formulating its well-planned outline through judicious analysis and research to establish a completely new system. The system development cycle is a cyclical process. In this cyclical process, there are certain stages to be crossed. These steps are interrelated. These steps are called the system development cycle.

The steps of system development are –
(i) Investigation
(ii) System Analysis
(iii) Planning or System Design
(iv) Software Development
(v) System implementation and
(vi) System Maintenance
They are described below:
(i) Investigation: The first level of system development is information retrieval. At this level, the type of work in the system, the nature of the data work, the amount of data, physical infrastructure, work and efficiency, overall cost, and preparing reports about existing problems. Techniques like an interview, observation, examination, verification of existing records etc. are used in data collection.
(ii) System Analysis: To achieve the desired goal at the system analysis level, a thorough analysis of the overall aspect of the system has to be done. System analysis is a well-thought-out analysis of data types, processing methods, results delivery, physical infrastructure for distribution of results, user needs and receipts, etc. and provides comprehensive recommendations for system development. The system analysis level is very important.
(iii) Planning or System Design: At this level, based on the system analysis report, a new plan has to be made to make the system profitable and suitable for achieving the desired goals. Logical and physical aspects are specifically included in system planning. Because, if the plan is not fair and realistic, implementation becomes impossible in many cases. The desired results and success of the system depend on proper planning and proper implementation.
(iv) Software Development: At this level, steps have to be taken to add compatible software keeping in mind the existing hardware materials and the desired results. Better quality software should be procured or own software is created by programmers.
(v) System Implementation: This level is very important. Because at this level, the revised system is given practical shape and every aspect of the plan has to be implemented properly. Everyone involved in the system has to participate properly. Appropriate manpower has to be developed to operate the system through training.
(vi) System Maintenance: System maintenance has to be done very carefully and carefully at the level. System maintenance is a casual task. If there is any error in the system, immediate action should be taken to eliminate it. Necessary steps should be taken to ensure that various programs of the system are not infected by viruses. To keep equipment safe from contact with dust and liquids. Apart from that, a proper arrangement of controlled and uninterrupted power supply should be made.
