Basic Concept of System
A system is a group of interrelated components that work together to achieve a common goal. For example, a college is a system made up of principals, teachers, staff and students, the common purpose of which is education. A system can also have multiple objectives. However, the objectives of the system will take priority over the components of the system. The way any organization works is called a system. Systems are created to solve problems. The main three parts of the system are - data acquisition, processing and output. Things to know about any system-
(i) What objectives the system will be designed to achieve?
(ii) How the system will be organised.
(iii) What are the components of the system and what are the interrelationships and dynamics between the components?
(iv) how users will interact with the system;
General characteristics of the system. All systems have some common features, viz
(i) Organization
(ii) Interdependence
(iii) Interaction
(iv) Consolidation and
v) Purpose.
Elements of System
A system basically has 3 parts known as input, process and output. But it should have the following components of a complete system, namely—
(i) Processor
(ii) Input and output
iii) Control
(iv) Feedback
v) Environment and
(vi) Boundaries.
