Why are laptop webcams always of poor quality?

 If you or I are asked what is the most useless part or component of a laptop, the answer is definitely a laptop webcam. Ever wondered why the quality of laptop webcams is so poor at a time when we can literally use foldable smartphones in 2020, when we can record video up to Ultra HD using the smartphone's front camera? Why is the webcam quality of laptops still the same as in 2010?

Because, they have assumed that ordinary consumers will not need to use Just Webcam. This will allow them to use the budget on other components of the MacBook. But yes, Apple's latest iMac has a very good quality webcam. However, this is not to be underestimated, as the iMac mentioned here is priced at over US ৫ 5,000.

Those who are currently complaining about the bad webcam of the laptop, they complain mainly because of their OCD or just out of curiosity. At this stage, the situation becomes a lot like a chicken and egg situation. Many users say that they never use a real laptop webcam because the laptop's webcam is bad. Laptop manufacturers do not implement high quality webcams on laptops because they never open laptop webcams.

But so far it has not been a problem, then suddenly people are thinking about the webcam of the laptop or why? This is because most people are now getting used to the Work From Home approach because of Kovid 19. If video conferencing is very important to you, you can easily connect an external high quality video camera or a DSLR camera if needed and use it as your video input device or webcap. However, you may need to do this only when you use video conferencing for professional work.

However, if you are a normal user, who just wants a slightly better webcam, then you can use the front or back camera of your smartphone as a webcam for your laptop or desktop. You will find good enough apps to do this on Google Play Store. Laptop manufacturers, after considering all these aspects, have decided to fall behind in 2010 when it comes to the quality of laptop web cams. But yes, for good reason, since we are now using a lot more video conferencing technology again, we may see high quality webcams on laptops in the future!
